Get to Know the Author
Mabel Havlin understands that life’s most beautiful moments often come after its most challenging ones—a truth that resonates throughout her debut novel, The Charm.
After forty-one years of marriage, raising two children, and now cherishing four grandchildren, Mabel brings authentic insight to stories about enduring love, devastating loss, and the courage it takes to open your heart again. Her life experiences have taught her that love isn’t about choosing between the past and the future, it’s about honoring both.
Family Connections
For years, Mabel expressed her gift for storytelling through heartfelt dedications and poems for family celebrations. She captures life’s pivotal moments in words that make loved ones laugh and cry. But she always dreamed of writing something bigger. In 2003, she began drafting The Charm, a story born from her deep understanding of how grief and joy can coexist, and how the charms we carry—both literal and metaphorical—connect us to the people who shape our lives.
Bringing it all Together
Life had other priorities, as it often does. The manuscript was set aside for family, career, and the beautiful chaos of everyday living. But the story never left her. Two decades later, Mabel returned to Liz and Tyler’s journey with fresh perspective and renewed determination.
When she’s not writing, you’ll find Mabel exploring coral reefs while scuba diving, and traveling to tropical destinations that inspire her vivid settings. She’s often lost in a great romance novel, or creating memories with her grandchildren. And, she hopes will one day they will read her books and understand that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
Mabel is now retired and living in Northern Kentucky. She finally published The Charm in March 2024, proving that some stories are worth the wait.
